Ambitious about Autism - Youth Network Peer Support Sessions

This network is a space for autistic young people, between the ages of 16-25 to meet other autistic young people, take on new paid opportunities, and join one of our group panels. The network is a fun and friendly space for autistic young people to be themselves.

Peer support sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 5:45-6:45 over Zoom. These sessions are a chance to meet new autistic young people across the country.

Every session has a different theme, past sessions have included arts and crafts, comedy night, DJ sessions, language lessons, and a monthly general knowledge quiz.

Coping with Change

A free online workshop hosted by Supporting Links for parents and carers of children aged 2-25 yrs with suspected or diagnosed Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Workshop content:
• How children feel and behave when experiencing change.
• How to prepare children for changes such as starting a new school.
• How to support children during and after change by helping them to manage their emotions using effective stress reducing strategies.
• How children learn from new experiences and what to expect.

Puberty and Neurodiversity

A free online workshop hosted by SPACE Hertfordshire on puberty in neuro-diverse children for parents of children with Special Educational Needs in Hertfordshire by Dr Mark Brown.

The workshop will explore the issues faced by children and teenagers with a learning disability and/or autism when they are going through puberty and the impact this can have on their family and wider circle. Topics covered will include:

  • Identifying the characteristics of puberty that can have a significant effect on young people
  • Practical approaches which can be taken to address inappropriate sexualised behaviours
  • How it’s never too early to start planning for puberty
